wcharly Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to extend the range on my RC nitro helicopter with a camera. I would like to be able to fly this around my town, But I would not like it to run out of range and crash. Someone tould me to use a prepaid cell phone and attach it to the chopper which will give it unlim range. Will this work for the wireless camera as well? I am very interested in these sorts of things. Thanks, Bill

That’s just not possible… cell phones and radio controlled helicopters use different frequencies. The best way is to upgrade your radio to a 2.4 Ghz radio and see how far that takes you. It also depends on how big your town is. If its 36 square miles, then that is just impossible. If your town in like 1 square mile, its quite possible if there isnt a lot of radio waves flowing around your city.
P.S. have you tried the prepaid cell phone idea?

Hey not at possible man! As the wavelength and frequencies of mobile phones and the controllers of RC helicopters differ completely you cannot extend the range in my view. If you need other clarifications visit this site http://www.helihobby.com/ else go for a new RC helicopter. LOL. TY!
You cannot match the frequency of a cell phone with remote controller. Maybe you can buy a RC helicopter with good range from a shop. I had my RC helicopter range is limited, but after replacing to a new one range is increase maybe you can find a good deal online.
